 EPIC ORIENTATION CHECKLIST 

Many trainees will have experience using Epic at their home institutions in various ways. This checklist is designed to be a list of topics to be reviewed with an attending on the first day of your rotation. It will help you become familiar with our clinic's version of Epic and how we would like learners to place use Epic to place orders and chart.  

Setting up your schedule  

  • Create schedule w/ Ian Nelligan, Patricia Hume, Ashley Tsang, Patrick Lowerre, Lucy Kalanithi, Robert Russo 

  • Review schedule columns  

  • Review how to add name to scheduling notes 

Pre-charting 

  • Past notes 

  • Past labs 

  • Problem list 

  • Medications (Reconcile every visit, Inaccurate if not reconciled since Epic transition) 

  • Mediquant/Patient Archive 

  • Aprima (POC A1Cs, task messages. If needed, ask an MA or Attg to help look up) 

  • MA rooming:  

    • Vitals 

    • Chief complaint 

      • Tonic Survey 

    • Allergies
